How did you start to play chess?
I learned chess when I observed my father playing one of his colleagues during warm autumn evenings in Asker.

What age, which year?
This was in 1957, when I was about six.

What is your best achievement in chess so far, and when?
I won my class in “Landsturneringen” – the Norwegian Championship both in 1971 (class II) and in 1972 (class I). I also won gold medal with Asker SK in the Norwegian team championship in 2001. This year, I ended third in the Norwegian Championship in Senior +65.

What is your target in chess?
My target is to continue to experience the immense feeling of joy at the chess board, and maybe also improve a bit in endings.

What else chess has taught to you, except playing chess?
Patience and a scientific approach to complex problems.
